My Project

First grade is an important year for learning to read. Instilling a love for reading in my students is very important to me. My goal is to provide my students with a quiet, comfortable place to explore and read books. I would like to use the bean bag chairs to create a "cozy corner" in my classroom where my students can go to relax and enjoy some quiet reading time.

Many children come to school with very little exposure to books and print.

It's my job to show them how wonderful books can be and how much fun it is to read and explore books. It is my hope that the "cozy corner" will help my students understand that reading can be fun and relaxing, not a chore.

This new area will also offer a quiet space for my students when they are feeling anxious or overwhelmed and they just need to take some time to process their emotions.
