My Project

Every classroom needs to have a safe space for students to go when their feelings get big. This place should be private, and comfortable, and have some tools to help students practice regulation strategies that have been taught at school and home. I would love to have some supplies to help make my class safe space cozier.

We want to teach students not only academic knowledge but how to take care of themselves emotionally as well.

Things like pillows and visual supports to help them remember how to calm down can help remove any stigma about utilizing the safe space. This rocking chair will help them to get more proprioceptive feedback to meet a sensory need. While the floral stickers will reinforce the idea that this is self-care, not a punishment.
