My Students

I teach a self-contained special education Kindergarten/1st grade class. I have a small class with a big personality. Each one of my students contribute something to our unique group.

My class includes students on the Autism spectrum, students with language differences and students who face learning challenges.

Everyday we celebrate little victories. When a student is able to overcome a challenge, the class cheers for that student. As a teacher, my favorite part of the day is celebrating with my students.

My Project

The Cozy Corner is a favorite area in our classroom! We currently have a bean bag and mat. I hope to add a weighted blanket to help address my students' proprioceptive needs; my students require sensory input to help them self-regulate. Our "calm down box" is a toolbox where students can choose a tool they would like to use to calm their bodies and get ready to learn. Adding the putty and fidgets will be great tools for our learners. Lastly, I hope to use the calming light to help my students who have visual sensory needs during transitions and quiet breaks in the classroom.
