My Project

There are times when even the most well adjusted students need a safe space to go refocus and regroup, and when they get that opportunity the whole classroom benefits.

I would like to provide a cozy corner for my students to go to if they feel they need five minutes to calm down and regroup with a comfy chair and calming sensory materials to engage with to help them manage their emotions.

My school has a glorious space for art on the top floor in a large shared space, but it is open without walls and can be noisy which is challenging for my neurodivergent students who can become overstimulated.

I love each and every one of my students and nothing gives me greater happiness than inspiring them to feel free to create, to try new things, take risks, and find joy in expressing themselves creatively. I want them to feel comfortable and safe in the studio.

What you would be providing by supporting my project is a beanbag chair in a cozy corner surrounded by sensory calming materials including a classroom calming kit, rainbow liquid sensory viewers, a giant 5-minute sand timer, and some fidget toys to help the student manage their feelings.

Please help me to provide a safe space in the art studio to support the social emotional needs of my youngest learners.
