Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students deserve a classroom space that inspires, welcomes and supports each student's strengths and needs. They deserve to feel nurtured, held, and cared for so they can be free to be themselves and grow to their full potential. When my students enter the classroom, I want them to feel at home and comfortable. I want my classroom to feel like a space that belongs to them.

Cozy spaces make young students feel comfortable.

The school environment can be challenging for some students, especially for young children who may never have been to school previously. For some, school is a new place that feels foreign to them. They miss their families and the comforts of home. They need cozy spots to help them feel comfortable throughout the day.

The glider chair and couch will provide cozy spots for students to sit and read, relax, or do their school work. They will also provide a more homey feel to the classroom for students sitting on the rug during group read alouds or playing during center time. These cozy seats will also meet the needs of some students that need alternative seating options to be successful during their school work.
