Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my self-contained special education classroom, there is a community of learners of diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and grade levels. They are kind, resilient, and exceptional students interested in a wide range of activities from urban planning to basketball.

Your gift will give my students with disabilities the opportunity to learn in ways that best fit their needs and help them maintain safe physical distance from their peers.

The students in my special education class have mild to moderate intellectual, cognitive, and physical disabilities. Our class is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. Each student is unique, creating a diverse group of learners in my class with varying interests, strengths, abilities, and learning styles.

As a special education teacher, I work every day to find solutions and resources to help develop my students' academic, communication, and social skills while keeping them safe from COVID-19.

My Project

Students will be returning to the classroom after being home for six months. Additionally, they will be in one classroom for the entire school day. I would like to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, comfortable, and cozy. I want my students to feel like this is their second home and attempt to shed the stress of returning to school during a pandemic. My goal is to buy three sets of curtain panels for our windows. Additionally, I would like to purchase a blackout curtain for our classroom door for lockdown drills or in the event of a threat in the school. Help me keep my kids comfy and safe!
