My Project

My name is Jordyn and I teach the second grade in a Title I school in Everett, Washington.

Coming out of the past couple of years we have had, I’m excited to give my students a somewhat “normal” classroom again next school year.

This year with social distancing, we did a lot less whole group instruction on the carpet. I’m so anxious to get my second grade classroom back to a cozy, family like environment by reintroducing a comfortable whole group carpet area. My second graders spend a lot of their day utilizing the carpet area throughout all subject areas. We begin every day with a morning meeting where students can greet each other, share their feelings, and engage in community building activities. In addition to this, I call students to the carpet multiple times throughout the day during all subject areas. Having all of them close and engaged in a comfortable space enhances student achievement and focus. Thank you so much for your help!
