My Project

I teach a second grade special education inclusion class. All of my students are unique, from the way they learn to the way they express themselves. I would like a cozy corner for them with soft lights, throw pillows, and gentle fabrics. The colors are muted and the fabrics are not harsh for students with sensory issues. It will help easily stimulated students cool down.

Breaks in the cozy corner will encourage children to develop important social-emotional skills, such as self-awareness, acknowledgment of feelings, and self-soothing skills.

A cozy corner learning center provides a safe place for young children to go where they can calm down when they're feeling mad, sad, nervous, or experiencing any big emotion.
