My Students

My students are energetic second graders who come from diverse backgrounds. They are enthusiastic learners and enjoy exploring the world around them.

I teach in a Title I school, with a high population of minorities, ELLs, and those from economically disadvantaged homes.

Over 75% of our students are eligible for free lunches. Despite all of this, my students love to be in school and learn. My classroom is a nurturing environment where students come together to learn and grow as individuals. They love exploration through books and the various manipulative materials that are available to them in the classroom.

My Project

I want to foster a love of reading in my students. Having a place that is cozy and inviting is essential. A book display will be used to highlight favorite books and expand a love of stories. Having a colorful rug creates a comfortable and fun space that my students will want to be. We will explore many books and go on fun literary journeys together. Literacy is incredibly important and fostering a love of reading will help my students to go far in life. Providing this classroom environment will give my students access to unlocking a life long love of books.
