My Students

The learning styles and needs of young children require tactile, visual, and auditory experiences. Young children need practice and repetition with the many concepts that are part of pre-reading and early math learning. Kindergarteners gain from working together, guided by a teacher, and yet they also need the leeway to work at their own individual speed and development.

I would like to get new basic needs that can provide unique and rich learning experiences in school.

The students at my school are inquisitive, eager to learn, and thoughtful. The teachers are generous, caring and loving and they go above and beyond to make sure every child has everything they need to learn and grow.

The school I teach at is a Title 1 school and 100% of the students at my school qualify for free lunch. There are approximately 346 students. Within my classroom there are students from Jordan, Mexico, Guatemala, Iran, and North American. I also have students who do not speak english as their first language.

Both students and teachers come to school each day ready to learn, to try new things, and to take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

My Project

We will return to in-person learning after a quarter of virtual education. I am excited and thrilled to see my class after nine weeks of virtual learning. However, as excited as I am, there are items that I need to meet the needs of my Kindergarteners.

Social-Emotional Adapting Skills are an essential part of having success with Kindergarteners.

However, with the restrictions of the amount of movement that can occur within the classrooms, my students will not utilize the peace corner this year. Therefore, I am asking for fidget spinners, stress balls, and stretchy people to make an individual peace corner at their desk. It will be hard for the students to be in the same area all day, and I am confident this will help ease the stress and anxiety that this school year will bring.

The students can no longer share manipulatives, and center rotations can no longer be implemented like before. Therefore, I am asking for farm counters so each student can have a set of counters at their desk to do addition, subtraction, making sets, comparing sets, and sorting. I am asking for individual packages of lowercase magnetic letters so that students can identify letters and letter sounds, build words, and practice phonemic and phonic awareness.

I am requesting the jump ropes, bubbles, and farm bags to create recess bags that each student can take outdoors and remain socially distant from their classmates.

What students does not enjoy praise and recognition? I am asking for stickers to encourage their hard work and academic efforts.
