My Students

Math is fun! Especially when you get to explore and learn by using math manipulatives.

I have a great group of 23 Kindergartners.

They are young, full of curiosity, and love to move! My students love to build and play as they learn. Their favorite ways to learn are through puzzles, drawing and manipulatives. They love to explore learning, and strangely enough do not like to color. Our school is small, but growing, and our parents are involved and supportive. Our school falls into that middle ground as far as funding is concerned. We do not receive the extra funding and programs that schools with high free and reduced lunch programs get, and at the same time we do not have a wealthy family base that provides many schools with the new technology that is available.

My Project

The resources I am requesting will be used daily during our math time. The counting boxes and the count and link activity will help develop the students one-to-one counting skills. Currently we are attempting to share one set of counters and mats, which means that not everyone gets to spend the time they need to practice counting. Getting a few more sets will give everyone more opportunities to develop these basic, necessary skills. The count and link activity will develop these counting skills up through those very tricky teen numbers. The giant tracing numbers are perfect for helping us learn to write our numbers in a way that is very concrete and easy to remember and use. The fact that they are reusable means that they will be helping not just this class, but future Kindergartners too.

These math activities will be used daily to develop the most basic numbers skills with a great group of students.

These math skills are the foundation for their entire future in understanding and succeeding in math. By funding this project you are helping to provide that strong foundation. Thank you!
