Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ages 4-5. The majority of them are English Language Learners who have never attended full-time school before. They live in homes with non-English speaking parents or caretakers.

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. For most of my students, our classroom is their only opportunity to experience teamwork and become successful learners.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting for my students include dinosaur counters, counting keys, and counting cones. These manipulatives will allow my students to engage in problem-solving stories thru play. I am so excited to create a math center area where my students can easily go and locate the materials that will help them practice and improve their counting skills.

Using manipulatives, my Kindergartners will be able to solve real-world math problems concretely!

Research shows that young learners need to practice counting using hands-on manipulatives to internalize their knowledge of numbers. The Magna-Tiles set I am requesting will be a great addition to our centers by introducing them to geometry in an engaging way.
