Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pre-K is where we have the opportunity to impact a child's life by beginning to build a foundation and give them an opportunity to grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically, as well as cognitively. That is why I feel honored to be able to take part in the journey of impacting these young life's. My students are second language learners that come from low socioeconomic families. Some are the sons and daughters of illegal immigrants. However, all these adversities do not obscure their enthusiasm and love for learning.

Full of curiosity energy, excitement, and creativity, my students brighten my day.

These children are ready to learn. They develop communication skills and how to play cooperatively, trying on different roles and exploring real life situations interacting with other students and teachers. We work on problem solving skills to help them develop critical thinking strategies. They are little sponges ready to soak in information. They are the future of our world.

My Project

Counting, Recognizing, Matching and Applying numbers are basic skills that children should be exposed to early. With the use of the resources, my student can explore and apply different mathematical skill when working in the Math Center or during small group instruction. They will be counting and identifying numbers. Creating different patterns and learning about shapes. They will experience using the magnetic shapes to build houses, boats and other things in their environment.

The use of manipulates when infusing mathematical skills in the early years is key.

Teaching my students simple skills like number sense, math concepts and simple application through play will increase their success in later years.
