Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have a range of disabilities, and they attend a special education public school housed on a campus with other high schools. The students on my counseling caseload participate in an inclusion program where they take general education classes with a co-located school.

My students have overcome many academic and social, and emotional obstacles to be where they are today.

My Project

The other counselors and I would like to develop a positive reinforcement system to earn prizes for exhibiting kindness, compassion, persistence, and community service. The start of this school year is the first time that many of our students have attended school in person for over a year, and we want to create a motivational system to reward positive behavior.

Specifically, the counselors would like to reward random acts of kindness as we rebuild our school community in this pandemic era.

The materials in this project are desirable, motivating items that students can work to earn in their counseling sessions, classrooms, and larger school community. The materials include student-requested items such as basketballs, phone accessories, journals, sketchpads, and more.
