My Project
Our students are incredible! They're funny, inspirational, and unique. They face so many challenges and yet they do what they can to persevere. Each student deserves to thrive and learn the skills they need to take care of their mental health.
A wide variety of students calls for a wide variety of tools and interventions.
I plan to use these items in my office during counseling sessions with students. Building up my counseling tool box allows me to be more successful with helping students and allows the students to be more successful, as well.
Some items in this cart are aimed to help calm students when they are escalated due to anxiety, stress, and panic attacks such as the weight stuffed animal and playdough. There are also items for working with students on self-esteem, coping skills, and mindfulness such as Headrush and the IFS skills manual (which will help improve my skills with students). The sidewalk chalk is for students to "Chalk the Block" and write positive messages for other students on the pavement on school property. Lastly, the Inside Out 2 toys are to add to my arsenal of sand tray toys for sand tray therapy, which is very effective with teens.
