Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students can be described as intelligent, courageous, charismatic and innovative! Although, only in sixth grade they are discovering who they are and who they want to be. Regardless of their obstacles, it does not get in the way of thriving and using any form of resource to achieve it.

"Si se puede!" translates to "Yes you can!" This is a powerful statement my students say to each other to get motivated.

Their spirits are so contagious.

Their lives are surrounded by broken dreams and families. Their safe haven is our classroom, where they can forget about their worries and focus on becoming a kind human being.

My Project

Have you ever been inside a classroom where it reminds you of home? This is the goal I have in mind as I write this letter. Students love to pick a place to sit where they will work to the best of their ability. Flexible seating has allowed for my students to become engaged and feel like at home.

Some describe it as their “second home”.

When I hear these words, not only is the physical furniture, furthermore is the culture and environment where they can be themselves.

The couch will not be a piece of furniture in a classroom but an addition to our humble home we call classroom.
