My Students

I teach theater in a Title I, elementary school in New York. I work with a diverse population of students throughout the day. Our school is a mosaic of cultures. Acting is a way to teach English Language learners and special needs students. The science teacher and I recognize that theater is way to explore science concepts for those children in language acquisition mode.

As the theatre teacher, I am revamping and updating our theatre department.

We need everything including basic supplies for tech and productions. With budgets for the arts being cut, I'm reaching out to donors for help.

Theater for many of my students is a powerful new way to express themselves and feel pride in who they are. As I tap into the talents of my students, it's important for me to have the supplies they need to create.

You can make a difference by giving my students a wonderful new avenue for expression.

My Project

I need writing supplies for the academic components of plays and acting. My students will use the pencils, colored pencils, and paper to create their own plays and scenery. Writing is an important part of theater and for many of my students it's the one place they like to write. As their teacher it is my job to differentiate my lessons for all learning styles and abilities.

This Singer sewing machine will be used to create exciting and visual costumes and scenery for all our school plays and presentations.

Sewing is wonderful skill that many schools do not teach. I want to offer all my students the opportunity to design and stitch their own costumes. How excited they will be to have an opportunity to be fashion designers!
