This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is committed to providing a safe, child-centered environment which offers students the maximum opportunity to learn and achieve academic success. Our mission is to help our students acquire literacy and become critical thinkers through a curriculum that is rich, balanced and aligned with performance standards.

When it comes to active engagement, building self confidence, and group projects, nothing beats a class musical.

Our resources are limited, and we need your help. These materials are for multiple second grade classes that are located in New York City.

Nearly all of our students are from low-income households and have extremely limited resources. Our elementary school has grades PreK-5 and houses over 1,000 students in two separate buildings. Basic materials have become difficult to acquire for our Title I school.

My Project

These costumes will assist the students in playing The Three Little Pigs, The Big Bad Wolf, Rapunzel, Cinderella, The Handsome Prince, The Frog Prince, Goldilocks and The Three Little Bears. with confidence and love. The musical that we are performing is "Character Matters" and it revolves around how iconic fairytale characters learn honesty, responsibility, forgiveness, and patience. The students will learn how to treat lyrics and dialogue as language, and to speak in natural rhythms with fluency. There is an important place in the elementary curriculum for performing and expression. The students will learn through exploration, discussion, and active participation.

Participating in a musical is an engaging hands-on learning experience that builds teamwork, cooperation, and mutual support.

The musical will make students feel good about themselves and is a great opportunity for reluctant learners to shine with the support of their classmates. This production will get families and the entire school community involved in what is happening inside our classroom.
