This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are very high energy and love to play and have fun while learning too. As a community of learners, they are very adamant about supporting one another and working together as a team. Our classroom college name is Cornell University; we take learning very seriously in our class and we often discuss our plans for future education. The students I serve all have high aspirations and I believe that all of them will live up to their fullest potential in life because they have what it takes to do so. It is my hopes to be able to provide them with everything they need to thrive and remove any barriers preventing them from learning.

My Project

As a teacher of 4th-grade students, it has been challenging at times to get them motivated to be more focused in class, follow directions, and be nice to their peers. Since students missed an entire year of school last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students are still adjusting to being back in the classroom environment and not homebound.

To encourage positive behavior, I want to give my students our own personal classroom PBIS store to shop from using their school points they earn for showing our core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, community, or excellence.

I want my students to have something to look forward to every week and make school a fun place for them to be. Our Cornell store will be filled with fidgets, snacks, small toys, pens, pencils, sports balls, fashion accessories, and more. I really believe this will give my students the incentive to be great and live out the mission of our school.
