My Students

My students live in Queens, NY and attend a Title I school. Many of my students come from low income families, are English Language Learners and/or live in temporary housing. Despite the challanges they face they come to school every day with smiles on their faces and are eager to learn.

My goal at the end of the day is to make sure each one of my students felt safe, felt compassion and want to return tomorrow.

At 5 and 6 years old they are asked to accomplish so much and they try their very best to do so. Each year I watch my Kindergarteners to grow physically, socially and academically and it is beyond amazing to watch and to know I have played a role in their success.

My Project

In my Kindergarten class I often need access to worksheets to differentiate a lesson, additional copies of worksheets due to errors, to review and to send home for additional practice. In addition, having access to pictures to present to students will support vocabulary. Requesting these items in advance is not always an option or something that can be anticipated. I always want to be prepared with what I need to teach each and every lesson so it is geared specifically for each students success.

I want my Kindergarteners to be successful, therefore it is important to have access to materials on the spot that can meet their needs.

Additionally, the sheet protectors and laminating sheets will allow me to let students use dry erase markers on worksheets or to create centers that can't be reused.
