My Students

At the start of the school year, one of my students said, "I want to do math." Another student said, "I want to learn science." These are examples of the hopes and dreams my kindergartners expressed in September.

My students are inquisitive who ask amazing questions that make me wonder about their thought process.

They are learning to be cooperative scientists and mathematicians as they conduct experiments and research during science and math periods. My school's philosophy promotes a learning community that encourages scientific experimentation and exploration. My school also values the experiences that students bring with them. They bring and share life experiences that supports cooperative learning.

My Project

My students will use the materials on a day-to-day basis during instructional times as well as independent learning times. One activity my students will be able to do is to record their observations of the aquarium life. They will practice drawing what they see and writing about their thoughts. My students will learn about the needs of a living thing and the importance of taking care of a living thing.

As I plan the curriculum, one of my biggest challenges is the lack of materials to support learning and self-discovery.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom by providing hands-on materials to conduct experiments and research. My students' lives will change for the better as they practice asking and answering open-ended questions. My goal is to provide a learning environment in which students can ask questions, test their hypotheses, and discover answers to their own questions.
