This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of working with 24, vibrant, first graders in an amazing classroom space. My students live in a low income, high poverty community in northern New Jersey. They all love to come to school. They love learning and engaging with each other. Their academic and social needs are vastly different, but they are kind and caring. They look out for each other and celebrate each other's successes.

My Project

Even though our building is less than twenty years old, the air conditioning unit has never quite worked in my classroom. It has not worked at all for the past five years, and with masks being mandatory this year because of COVID-19, the kids are suffering. It is extremely difficult for them to focus. Neither students nor teachers can be at their best in these conditions, so please donate to this worthy cause. It will be greatly appreciated by my amazing students, as it will maximize their learning and comfort in so many ways.
