Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Mrs. Olvera and I am the proud librarian at our school. We service over 470 students in a very low income area. Students look forward to visiting their school library and enjoying reading a great book. It is their home away from home.

It truly makes my heart happy when students are coming into the library on a daily basis because it is their comfort place.

I always love to reward my readers when they meet their reading goals. I teach my students that goals in life are very important. This is why I would love to gift them with things that bring them joy, things that they have no way of obtaining due to being economically disadvantaged. Some of these items include Legos, Squishmallows, headphones, markers and treats.

With students being on a one-to-one device, these headphones would benefit greatly for online lessons. Legos require patience, team-work and building which is something we practice on a daily basis. When students come to the library to read, they love to hug a plush to feel comforted.

Please help me make this project come to life for my students. Thank you!
