Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students vary in age from 12-17. They are all diverse learners with special needs. Each learner comes to school with a positive attitude and is eager to learn.

My students have a variety of learning disabilities.

Each student has their own needs and learning must be centered around their needs. Each student enters the class with a different learning style which must be addressed in order for them to have access to the curriculum. With hard work and dedication, the possibilities are endless.

My Project

It is difficult to focus when you're melting away in the heat. As part of the new core standards, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from many areas around the world. I want to engage my students in learning, by creating a comfortable learning environment. The classroom is hot! We do not have enough fans to cool off.

My classroom needs five fans in order to keep the students cool and focused on their work.

On hot days it is difficult for them to be engaged, focused, and motivated on their work and assignments due to the heat. Many say, "I went to school without air conditioners/fans," but we must remember that due to global warming this heat isn't the same kind of heat that we all experience in our school days.”

Students are sweating, melting away in their chairs because the heat is overwhelming. This is no way to learn; please help us cool off.
