This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth grade classroom is full of energetic nine year olds who are eager to learn and conquer all.

They are smart and super friendly sometimes a bit much, once you get to know them, they'll steal your heart! We are a small school community so most of the kids have been together since kindergarten. It’s amazing to see how much they love and care for one another. Empathy in our classroom is palpable the minute anyone walks in.

Our class is made up of many English learners, students with special needs, and students at all different academic levels. Nonetheless, they're enthusiastic about learning, they're humorous and every day they show how resilient they are regardless of their individual situation. These are the things that make our kids special!

Unfortunately, most of my students come from low income families who hardly make ends meet, so it's practically impossible for our families to contribute much to everything my students need to have a successful school year.

My Project

Our very hot NYC public school classroom has no air conditioning. There are days when the room might feel like is 90-100 degrees which makes learning impossible! I want my kids to be motivated and melting in their seats is not allowing me to meet my goals.

The air conditioner will not only make the environment of the classroom more comfortable for all my learners, but it will make it safer for those with medical conditions, we have a few asthmatic kids in our classroom and when the classroom gets so hot during the late spring and the summer months it's really not safe for any of my kids.

The air conditioner will also keep me heathy too, as I'm an asthmatic too so that I can be ready for the daily demands of the classroom. Thank you so much in advance for helping me in providing the best environment for my kiddos!
