My Project

The art supplies I am requesting will fulfill the "A" in a comprehensive STEAM project for my first grade scholars. As we explore our Science standards, students will learn about the Earth, Sun, Moon, and Stars and daily patterns.

This art project stretches across the disciplines, while encouraging originality and creativity.

Students will use the medium of quick dry modeling clay to make both astronauts and space rovers. Scholars will investigate astronauts, researching what training astronauts need, what they wear, what they do in space, how they do it, and how their contributions impact our society. Students will use the quick dry modeling clay to make both astronauts and space rovers. The rovers will be models of rovers we designed on our iPads, incorporating the technology piece of STEAM. Students will have the opportunity to incorporate our math unit as we incorporate fractions- how much clay they should us and our geometry studies, forming 3D shapes with the clay, using the academic vocabulary as we do so. The art portion of this STEAM activity will highlight innovation and individuality.
