My Project

I teach in an urban school on the second floor of a three-story building. Our school does not have air conditioning, and the windows in my classroom pull open instead of rising. As a result, we get very little air into our classroom, making it extremely warm on hot days and challenging for my scholars to concentrate. Our school has a high mobility rate, so they often move. Our school is sometimes the most stable thing in their lives. We often have children who come to school with no or minimal school supplies. I use a lot of my money without hesitation to buy needed things. I keep a supply of quick snacks and noodles in my classroom for any of my scholars to take home at the end of the day so they can have something to eat in the evenings. I want to ensure they have a fair chance at learning the materials presented in class without worrying about being hot, hungry, and not having the necessary school supplies.
