This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Cooking in the classroom is a great way to incorporate hands-on learning. Cooking is a life skill which supports math, science, language, social emotional development, motor and cognitive skills. Please help me give my students experiences cooking in the classroom with these cooking essential items!

Cooking provides a hands-on learning experience that engages students in a multisensory way.

It allows them to see, touch, smell, and taste different ingredients. Cooking is an excellent way for teaching math and science concepts. They can observe chemical reactions, changes in states of matter, and the effects of heat or blending of ingredients.

Cooking can be a therapeutic and comforting activity for students. It provides a sense of routine, and structure, which can be particularly beneficial for those with special needs. Engaging in cooking activities can also create a warm and caring environment that positively affects students' emotional well-being. In some cases, students comes from food-insecure backgrounds, and providing cooking activities in the classroom can help address hunger issues. It allows them to prepare and enjoy nutritious meals.
