Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning to cook is a fun way to gain important life skills. Our blended curriculum includes fun recipes that can be enriched with real kitchen items. My students will enjoy creating meals and learning to manage a kitchen while gaining valuable skills such as sequencing, fine motor, turn-taking and comprehension skills that support their journey towards independence.

Using real equipment like a griddle, an oven and safety knives in a kitchenette-styled center can provide a realistic learning environment where students have tangible experiences.

Other items like a recycling bin, spice rack and baking equipment will provide added realia to this center. My students will always remember what they learned in this life skills and very likely spark a life-long interest in being creative and self-sufficient.
