My Students

My students are deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind. They have hearing loss ranging from mild to profound. My campus serves as the high school level Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in our area.

My students are bused in from surrounding school districts to receive specialized services such as deaf education teachers, an audiologist, speech pathologist, teacher of the visually impaired, and sign language interpreters.

Most of our students come from low-income households and many have limited access to language (spoken English or sign language) at home. It is imperative for our students to learn new skills in hands-on, visual ways!

My Project

My students love to cook in our SPED kitchen! We are running low on some kitchen essentials, such as plates, sponges, a tray, mini-oven mitts, and tongs. I recently purchased an air fryer for my students to use and they're loving it because it's simple to use and the food tastes delicious! The tongs and mini-oven mitts will protect my students from burning themselves and help flip the food inside the fryer or oven.

My high schoolers love to create shirts, stickers, and their own designs on our classroom Cricut machine.

We recently went through most of our heat transfer supplies and we need a refill so they can continue to create.

Have you ever been around hungry teenagers? Yikes! It's not pretty. The snacks and water will help them focus on work and relieve some stress.
