My Project

The Cooking Club is all about opening the door for students to experience the world of food with their friends. Students will make recipes that range from scrambled or poached eggs, to more complex types of pasta sauces -- to making noodles from scratch -- and more. The supplies in this project will allow students to take notes on the cookbooks we will be referencing, and prepare food with ease.

The Stranger book is a supplementary material that will be used to show the communal nature of food, and help students from a variety of backgrounds appreciate the beauty of "breaking bread" no matter where we are.

The cooking club additionally is a means of proving both mental health resources and access to a safe space with clean, healthy food. It teaches students the incredible life skill of being able to cook for themselves, and others. Many students go on to prepare recipes we make in the club for their parents. Supporting this projects means more home-cooked (and affordable) meals at home for all!
