My Students

I'm lucky to teach fifth and sixth graders at SLAMS. We are a project-based, inquiry driven school in Powelton Village in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia. My students are curious, engaged, and always looking for new material to soak up. After an exciting year of reading, students are making lots of requests for books!

This year, I want to make sure that we have lots of books by their favorite authors from last year.

After a student loves a first book in the series, I want to make sure they can get their hands on the next ones as well!

My Project

Last year, my students loved reading "Ghost," "Patina," and "Sunny," by Jason Reynolds. This year, they're excited to read "Crossover" by Kwame Alexander. I want to make sure that when we finish a whole class book, I have the sequels ready and waiting! In this project, I'm asking for the fourth book in Jason Reynolds' 'Track' series as well as the second, third, and companion book for Kwame Alexander's 'Crossover' series

My students love to read together.

I'm asking for multiple copies of each text so students across the school can read the same book at the same time with their friends. With this project, students will get to enjoy new books by their favorite authors.
