My Students

My class is made up of eighteen students. All second graders love to be active through centers. We do Daily 5 reading and math workshop to keep the kids moving. Students learn best through the multiple intelligences and using different activities to engage the intelligence's.

My students love to have change in the classroom, have choice, and to have hands-on activities.

Many students at this age are looking for ways to keep moving. My class is no different. With four years of teaching experience, I understand that students are always looking for ways to move and be active.

My Project

I have been using flexible seating for three years. I appreciated all the help the first time I received seats. Ten of my stools are broken from my last purchase of flexible seating and I'm requesting new stools. I'm also requesting a table.

Having a table and chair set-up can help my active and hands-on learners.

My students have enjoyed picking seats. This helps them choose how they will best engage in the lesson. Many of my students are moving in their seats. All of these seats give them these options to do these movements. It also gets kids excited on picking a new seat every day, rather than a seating arrangement. This also puts the responsibility on the students to choose a good seat that will help their learning.
