Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is made up of 30 low-income students, 15 girls and 15 boys. I have 19 English language learners who need total physical response and other visual, and or auditory scaffolds to increase their English language development. The rest of my students are reclassified English learners. As a 1 to 1 iPad school, the students have become literate in utilizing multiple applications like iMovie, and Keynote. They are enthusiastic and highly motivated by technology, which is enhancing their learning tremendously.

My Project

My students are second language learners, who need a lot of language experiences. I provide different settings for their cooperative grouping. For instance, we have benches in library, a round table and a rug. The students enjoy having different seating options to work together.

Having two convert a benches will give students a comfortable space for them to have constructive conversations.

We have constructive conversations all day, especially during ELD, language arts, math, science and social studies. My students learn from each other within homogeneous and heterogeneous groups.

These benches will provide another option for flexible grouping environment to encourage cooperative learning.
