Engaging students is a priority if you want them to learn. Being a mathematics teacher of tenth grade students, it is important for my students to have an opportunity to use hands on manipulatives.

Performing constructions, using a compass, and a straightedge (ruler), for my students is an essential part of their future. Teaching students that plan on becoming engineers, architects, or working in the construction field is an inspiration for me. Being able to teach my students how to duplicate an angle or draw a segment bisector is a challenge without the proper tools for each child.

In order to draw constructions, you need to have a compass, and a straightedge. With the economy today, it is very difficult to ask students to bring in a box of tissues, let alone a compass, ruler, protractor along with all of the other supplies needed, pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, etc. The compass is needed to perform these constructions along with the ruler, the protractors will be used for them to verify that they have completed their tasks successfully.

Your donations will make it possible for my students, now and in the future, to learn constructions with the proper tools. My students and myself greatly appreciate your assistance in enhancing our learning environment.
