My Students

My classroom is an interactive studio where students come and explore technologies and problem solving. Our goal is to have a maker studio space where students can come freely and make whatever they could possible imagine. A robot, sure! Explore projectile motion, let's build a trebuchet.

My students are excited to explore and create something amazing.

I have, all in the same class, drama kids, athletes, 4.0 students, special needs students, students who have to work to support their families - truly the whole spectrum of kids. The classes that I teach are mixed classes; this means that an AP honors student works alongside a special education student. This creates for the most unique working environment where each student is learning not only about technology but also something about themselves.

My Project

My students are in need of a Kreg Pocket Hole System, which arguably is one of the greatest inventions for designing and building out of wood. My students get the opportunity to make all kinds of projects, from step stools to whole sets for musicals. The process of how we design and create these projects are very limited to what equipment we have in the lab. The addition of this tool would allow the level fabrication to dramatically improve and enhance the students' experience.

It is one thing to dream about building something amazing; it's another to actually do it.

With the addition of this system it allows projects to be taken to that next level. Essentially what the tool does is allow two pieces of wood to be fastened to each other without glue. It sets a screw guide hole that perfectly aligns the pieces of wood to each other. With this edition the complexity of projects can be elevated and students will create nicer projects.
