My Students

I teach 11th and 12th grade science at a public magnet school in West Philadelphia. My students have diverse backgrounds, but they are all inquisitive and excited to learn. Growing up in a city, many students can find it challenging to connect to nature and the environmental issues that our society and planet face.

As a science teacher, I have the unique opportunity to open my students' eyes to the amazing world of science, as well as show them how truly interconnected we are to everything around us.

I am so excited to be able to share my passion for biology, conservation and environmental science with my students. Additionally, as my students reach the end of their high school careers, it is so important for them to be able to think critically, locally and globally. I want my students to be able to realize their impacts on the environment, understand how to make more sustainable choices and be able to educate others about what they have learned in my classroom.

My Project

I am requesting help in building a library of professional texts and curriculum supporting materials for my conservation biology elective. I am developing this course and want to ensure that I am providing my students with accurate, scientific and meaningful information.

As I build my curriculum, these resources will be invaluable toward deepening my understanding of the science I will be teaching.

Additionally, these resources will assist me in developing engaging and interactive lessons for my students. This is a science topic I am extremely passionate about, therefore I want to continue to grow and learn as much as I can in order to best serve my students and my school community.
