My Students

My students are an enthusiastic bunch. They love to read and solve math problems. I have a combined class of 3rd and 4th graders. What makes my class so special is that the students are from various backgrounds and they all get along well with each other. They are always asking questions and are eager, to explore and discover the different communities around the world. Each month I have assigned two parents from my class to come into the classroom to share a traditional dish from their culture.

My Project

We reside in a community where many of our students are home with either older siblings or other family members while they wait for the breadwinners of the house to come and prepare a meal.

The goal is to teach our students, how to prepare fun, simple and healthy snacks that they can prepare either while they wait or to make themselves a healthy meal when there is a need to.

Using blenders to make smoothies, or toaster over to warm bread to make a sand-which will help our students become self-sufficient an that's one of the goals.

They will use this life skill that they acquired for the rest of their life. Measuring ingredients using measuring cups and measuring spoons will allow them to see math come alive.
