Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are exceptional students who work very hard to be successful. Most students are English Second Language learners and are striving hard to make their families proud.

Many of my students are immigrants new to America trying to learn a new language and culture, along with their math, science, writing, and reading.

We are a Title I school working hard to make our budget stretch to meet the needs of each student. Seeing my students succeed is reason I teach!

My Project

This project is created to help encourage the love of science, social studies, and reading. My students are mostly English language learners, and they have a difficult time with reading comprehension at their grade level. The best way to improve their reading skills is to read, read, talk, and write about it.

I choose reading materials that are real-world adventures.

Students in Houston have just experienced the worst flood disaster in the history of the United States. The magazine that shares survival stories of disasters is something many of my students will be able to relate to first hand.

This project will put magazines into the hands of my students as something they can take home and share with their families. A piece of literature to encourage them to dream outside of school and their neighborhoods.
