My Students

Every day my students work to make connections. During the day this happens at literacy centers with the text they interact with as well as their group projects & investigations. They thrive on activities and love sharing their creations, handwork, fun, & connections with as many people as they can.

My students are energetic, caring, and investigative.

They love to problem solve and investigate then share what they've learned. They work well with each other and thrive in an environment where they can choose between group, partner, and solo work. My students also come from families that are primarily low SES. My school is a Title I school with 67% receiving free or reduced lunch. This does not dampen their drive. They long to learn more. They want to dig into investigations and explore new content. They also want to share that information with others both in our school and outside of it.

My Project

My students do daily literacy centers. One of these centers is a listening and responding center. The iPods will be used to update this center and make the leveled readers more accessible and reliable. Students also participate in digital portfolios. The iPods will allow students to more easily upload documents and videos to these portfolios so family can see daily what students are learning and creating. Having multiple devices allows for many students to upload and create at one time. While the iPods will help in creating digital work they will also be used by students to create content for the classroom blog. Currently students use the teacher's phone to take pictures, add watermarks, and download. These iPods will allow multiple students and groups to perform these tasks simultaneously. This will give them more control over the classroom blog as well as strengthen their 21st century skills.

Donations to this project will provide devices that can be utilized during numerous daily activities.

These devices will allow students to grow their skills, learn about digital citizenship, and connect families to our classroom. Donating to this project will expand my students' access to needed materials. With these materials will be used daily and appreciated for classes to come.
