Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have three boys (Junior, Michael, and Alex) on my soccer team that are very excited to organize and run a soccer camp at a local elementary school. These boys are leaders on their team and in their community. They have a huge heart and want to be positive role models for younger students.
These students are very passionate about serving the students of local elementary schools. They understand what a significant impact they can have on the lives of students younger than themselves, so they have decided to utilize that opportunity. These boys love soccer and know that so many of the elementary students love the sport as well. They thought there would be no better way to connect with the students than to offer a free soccer camp. They want to lead the rest of the high school soccer team to be "camp coaches" and organize all of the camp sessions.
Junior, Michael, and Alex will get more out of this project than I think they know. By working together on the project they are learning teamwork. By being the ones responsible for the organizing of the camp they are learning accountability. Also, by supervising the other high school boys they are learning a key skill in leadership. This project will instill character traits that will be useful to them for life.
In Their Own Words
Our goal is to get the equipment needed to help young kids become better soccer players. We are going to need scrimmage targets to divide kids into different teams. We need soccer balls that they can take home at the end of the day and practice what they have learned. We also need four soccer goals in order for us to set up practices and activities. In order to achieve this, we need all the help we can get.
Once we gather all the necessary equipment, the players of our school's Boys Soccer team will be assigned as coaches. We will find dedicated and responsible players to coach. We will establish the appropriate drills for each grade level. We will make sure everyone is involved. We hope to show them the value and benefit of working together as a team.
This project is important to us and our school community because we want to be positive role models in their lives. We’ve had positive influences in our lives, and we want to have the same impact on these kids. Also, the community has helped us in a variety of ways, so we want to give back to the community.
