My Students

We just added 4K classes to our elementary STEAM schedule. Students come once a week for 30 minutes. They work collaboratively to problem-solve and design solutions.

I often encounter my 4K students in the hallway and they are always eager to greet me and share, "We get STEAM today!"

It's fun to see and hear their excitement. Our school is a Title I school. Our students thrive when they are able to engage in play-based learning activities, and that is what STEAM is all about!

My Project

4K just joined our STEAM schedule this year. We're looking to introduce the concepts of team engineering, with spending, to develop both teamwork skills and financial literacy in our early grades. We'll accomplish this through simple costs associated with materials used. Each color in these kits will need to be budgeted for, and teams will work collaboratively to determine costs for their project.

It takes a lot of practice to develop a sense of maintaining a budget and working as a team toward a goal.

These K'Nex will join a few sets we already have to create enough for entire classes to use during STEAM challenges. We're excited to see how our kids grow their financial literacy awareness. We're excited to see how working as a team helps our students to meet engineering goals!
