I am an elementary school English Language Arts and Reading teacher. I begin each day teaching reading and ELA to all of our school’s virtual students, then the rest of the day with students that participate in person. This means I get to spend each day teaching fourth and fifth-grade readers in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches.
These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways including room transformations, arts-integrated lessons, and project-based learning.
My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!

To help my students continue learning during the pandemic, we need a new laptop to help with our virtual Zoom lessons.
This will also be available for the students participating in person in school as well. It will be available for them to use when working on class projects. Our current laptop has decided it doesn’t want to work anymore. With daily virtual classes, we need a computer that is reliable and works quickly and efficiently.
To make our upcoming units more engaging, we are requesting sets of headphones. Due to Covid, we've had to implement many more virtual lessons. Many of my students don't own any headphones, and when we are working on computer lessons, these are a necessity. These will help students stay focused as they work! As a bonus, we need a few bags of candy to use as motivational treats for their hard work.
To bring my dream learning activity to life, I'd love to get some printer ink for our color printer. We will use this to create colorful reading task cards and new reading games. We also need Clorox wipes to help us stay healthy, a set of Frog and Toad books, and a new paper shredder. Sadly, our little shredder died this week. It's important to be able to dispose of confidential paperwork safely to maintain student privacy.
