My Students

We are a New York City Public School, located in East New York, Brooklyn. We have been a community hub since the early 1900s. We educate a diverse community of learners. 10% of our students are English Language Learners, 30% of our children have IEPs and receive specialized services. More than 91% of our student population is eligible for free lunch.

We are a second home to all members of our school community.

Families entrust us with their Pre-K newbies and partner with us to ensure that our students grow academically and socially, cultivating unique talents that help to pave the way for future successes.

Our children are not limited by their enthusiasm and work ethic. Yet they are deprived of basic supplies and access to technology that students from middle class schools enjoy. We partner with the Public Library, but hours are limited. Growing our access to technology, would truly be a gift!

My Project

I am requesting an efficient, inexpensive, hand-held barcode scanner. Ensuring that our students have equitable access to technology is my top priority! My elementary-age students create blogs, learn how to code, and become talented communicators and collaborators.

MISSION: Empower students with Technology Tools

With a barcode scanner my students will be able to

*Access online books with Myon

*Build math skills on Mathletics

*Collaborating/Office 365 skills-Edmodo

*Design blogs to express themselves and take ownership of their learning

*Coding: Critical thinking skills with self-paced curriculum/ Code.org

*Build communication/presentation skills with Powtoons,

Haiku Deck, and PowerPoint

*Home access which promotes learning 24/7

*Students have the opportunity to become tech experts and teachers.

Your support of this project with make a big difference in my students' progress.
