This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 3rd-grade teacher in South Bronx, NY. For the past 2 years, our entire nation and school communities have been negatively impacted by a coronavirus and it continues to alter our lifestyles, routines, and understanding of normalcy. Despite our best intentions and efforts to support our students, we were forced to adapt to different forms of remote learning to tackle challenges from deepened learning gaps, limited socialization, and budget.

I love my students for their positivity toward academic obstacles and taxing home circumstances; 95% of my students receive free lunch, and nearly 1/3 of them live in the NYC shelter system.

I'm here to ask for your support to obtain the necessary tools that enable educators like me to provide a sound, updated, and adequate digital learning environment for my students.

My Project

As an educator, we all know that student learning is beyond the four walls of the classroom and pages of textbooks, students thrive under creative and interactive ways of learning. My first item is to “keep current with technology” and it means to make sure my tech can withstand any 21st-century problems that may come. It also enables me to provide students with easy-to-access information, accelerated learning, and fun opportunities to practice what they learn. It is also to avoid frustration stemming from lack of updated hard and software, which lead to digital wellness and good mental health. My second item is to ensure I can be connected to appropriate and multiple sources of resources that are already in a traditional classroom.
