Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a six-year teacher of two brilliant math and science classes. My students come from different backgrounds with one goal, which is to enjoy school and learn. It is very rewarding to see my fourth and fifth-grade students ready to learn something new. The challenge is to ensure I can meet all of their needs through virtual learning. I engage them with some technology and real experiences that some might not have had the opportunity to live because of their socio-economic status. I want to keep giving them the experiences they need through this pandemic to be engaged, thrive, and have a safe environment they need to learn either virtually or in class.
My goal is to help my students stay focused and be comfortable when they are in my classroom ready to learn.
My Project
My incredible students are adapting to online learning as we navigate through this time. Teaching online can be a challenge when most of the materials for the students and I are at school. With an iPad, I can connect my computer and iPad together and use them simultaneously to create videos, use online whiteboards, present manipulatives, and communicate with each student
The iPad will serve as an extension to the learning.
During live lessons, the students will have a familiar experience as they get to see me through the computer, explain a lesson, and present their examples to the class. Once we eagerly return to school, the iPad and stylus can be used in small group learning. Students can be engaged with the iPad using the given tools.
