Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diving deep into the controversies surrounding social and environmental injustices that they and others in their generation are poised to inherit. They are ready to change the world!

Students in my 7th grade Social Studies classroom are fired up about injustices around them.

I teach several classes of students from Queens with family roots from all over the world. They want to connect more, learn deeply and have an impact on the world around them.

My Project

Though our in-person learning has been interrupted multiple times, my students and I still get excited when we get a new book in our hands. This year we are excited to read "Concrete Rose" - the follow up to "The Hate U Give."

Help us stay excited as readers!

While reading this book students will learn how to compare and contrast characters across multiple texts. Students will make connections between the conflicts and choices that characters make and current social justice issues affecting our nation.

Students will complete their book club work with Creative One Pagers.

We plan to start this book as soon as it is in our hands, and we will discuss it together during our reading time both in school and at home.
