Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A computer in the first grade will be so exciting! I am a first grade teacher in Spanish Harlem, N.Y. Most of my students live in shelters and their families are low income. A lot of the families do not have computers at home. My classroom has internet access but I do not have a computer. I would love to have access to educational games for my students. I can research questions that my students have about specific topics and when we study animals they can get pictures and cool information on the web.

My wish is to have a computer to use as a resource tool and to use during writing. In my class my students love to publish books and they can use the computer as a word processor to publish books to share with their families. I have wonderful educational Cd's to help my students with spelling, reading, and rhyming but without a computer I have not been able to expose them to these exciting ways of learning. In this technological age my first graders should be familiar with computers and how to navigate the web to prepare them for their future. Having this computer will be a great resource for my students to benefit from. I want to inspire my students to be life long learners and having this computer will inspire them to do just that.

My students need a desktop computer with an LCD monitor. Having a computer in the class will be essential to my students and will be a tool to help all my students from the advanced to the struggling ones.

Your help will make it possible for my students to better their lives and experience things they have not been able to due to their economic status. I believe that all children deserve the best education. My dream is to give my students the best education that I can and expose them to things that will better their lives and help them in the future. A computer in the classroom will be a great start to get them on their way to success!
