My Students

Computers are the books, pencils, crayons, and paper of the future. My First Graders absolutely love using the computers we have, but they only have access to them about once per week.

I teach First Grade at a charter school in a very low income district in New York.

Almost all of my students are minorities and receive free or reduced cost lunch. My students are very bright and work amazingly hard. They deserve every advantage we can give them.

My Project

Our classroom currently has three laptops of its own and we use them constantly. Students practice math facts and solve problems, work on phonics skills and reading comprehension, read articles and do research. We are really hoping to be able to expand the reach of technology beyond three students at a time.

Most of my children do not have access to computers at home, so the only chance they have is at school.

These new computers would double the amount of time that each student is able to play, learn, and prepare for life in a technological world.
