My Students

I teach in a Title I school that is located in Southeast, DC with 90% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of our students experience difficult home lives (sharing beds, hunger, absent parent, etc.) and have experienced some kind of trauma in their lives. Although my students face these challenges, school is their safe place and show this through their resilience in the classroom. My students love any new resources and technology to help them learn math.

My Project

The use of computers is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. We are a school that uses a combination or teacher-led instruction and blended-learning. Using this set-up in math, allows students to experience learning on computers through various guided lessons, practice, and testing. These math programs allow me to see exactly how they are progressing with their lessons and instructions. It is a great way to practice for their grade-level assessment at the end of the year.

By having laptop computers, students will be able to use this technology to work on their math programs, ultimately increasing their learning!
